Names

We were planning on keeping the twins names. Their names are a part of who they are. With that said though... We weren't planning on their names meaning, "My servant" and "God of darkness".
I know their parents did not give them those names knowing what they meant. For instance, I never knew my son Lukas' name meant man from Lucianna?! And McKayley? well we made it up so I don't think it has a meaning. But I still can't bring myself to keep their names knowing what they mean. It would be um..wrong to have an African child that is called, "My servant" you know what I mean.

Let the naming begin. We have a few ideas But I would love to hear more. Do you have any names that come to mind for a gorgeous 22 month old girl and her beyond handsome twin brother?

I need your suggestions!!!!

oooh, this will be fun!! I'm thinking. . .
I LOVE Lily Kate for a girl and Noah for a boy. . although lots of people are going the Noah route right now. . .I also love Reagan for boy or girl and one of the cutest little girls I've ever met was named Peyton!

I had SUCH a hard time naming my kids!!! I LOVE talking about it though!

Grant and Grace? Levi and Lucy? Or Brant and Bella? We are also adopting a little person from ET. We are thinking on either Kate, Sophie or Bella.

And now... off subject:

Yes, it's def. normal. I felt like crap a lot in the beginning. Pace yourself. I did a "walk/run" thing... walk for a minute, run for 2. As you get better you will run longer and walk less. You have PLENTY of time to build up to 13 miles. YOU CAN DO IT! 36... please. You are young. My mom started this whole half marathon thing the year she turned 49 and is going to do a full one in Jan. @ 51. Running takes a lot to get used to, but I promise... you will get in the flow of things without feeling like you just gave birth. (Lol loved that association by the way.) And, yes. I am bringing Caleb. We are Disney fanatics. So there you go. Any more questions or if you need encouragement, let me know!

Go backwards. What do you want the names to mean? What do you feel in your heart? Blessing, gift from God, heavenly (Celeste), treasures. I also like Elisha (pronouned Alicia) and Elija (call him Eli). Elisha Jane and Elija James???Too much alike! Hmmm...Curtis is actually considering adoption. Pray for us on that, would you please. The kids are all over it. Love you guys!

Okay, I am not leaving any of my names as they are completely unusual...too much so:)

We named our daughter Zolene (which she picked) Abenni (which I picked and means girl prayed for) just to clue you in on my weirdness with names:)

But I agree with you on the name change. We changed Zolene's name, because Zoe in African is the head of a tribal voo doo thing...not good.

Sounds like your off to an awesome start, can't wait to hear what you come up with!

Um, I like Joanna and Henry!! ;0)

Ha!

I'm not a very clever kid-namer. I go with old family names... but there are definitely some gorgeous African names and had we not kept Henry's name, I would have probably chosen an African one.

On my old computer I had a great website saved with African names and meanings, but it is trapped inside my dead computer and I don't remember the address. It's out there somewhere! :)

Can't wait to hear what you come up with!! (And REALLY can't wait to see some pictures when you're able to post them!)

Peace,
Amber

I so agree...names and their meanings are so important.

Are there names that sort of sound like what they're already used to..but with a little different twist (AND meaning?)

I LOVE looking at this site for fun:

http://www.babynamesworld.com/

Go to the Advanced Search and you can search out just a particular meaning. Or names from a particular place of origin.

And as for me, I'm not into giving twins names that sound singy-songy similiar. In my head it just reinforces that they come as a pair and will remain a pair. Maybe it's just me, but I like promoting individuality. But there you have it. My random thoughts. :)

Have fun!!

With my two I picked out several options of name combinations and wrote down the meanings and then had to meet the kids before I knew what their name was to be. Ian means "God is gracious" and Kathryn means "pure". I liked a lot of names but not their meanings so they got eliminated. I like the names Xavier, Anna, Elizabeth and Grace. Good luck. I am so excited for you and Adam and your kids. These two little ones are so lucky to be joining a wonderful family!!

I cannot believe we are both using the same agency. They do rock! So fast! We are pretty sure we are going to be matched with a little one thats not quite a month old yet:)

We have boy/girl twins, and we named them our two favorite names (after much pouring over baby name books, list making, and suggestions from my sister). Their names are Reid (it means "red-haired," and guess what- he has red hair! That was lucky,) and Lily (which I think is such a perfect name for her, since she is fair, blonde and blue-eyed.)
But I also think similar names are adorable. Like Logan and Lucy. Cute!
After having twins, I have learned that there really is something special between twins. My twins are best best friends. When Reid was a baby, he got really really sick once and ended up in the hospital, and Lily was the only one who could make him smile. There is an amazing connection there. So don't shy away from similar-sounding names, if you like them. Twins are absolutely amazing, and SO MUCH FUN!
I am so happy for you!

Ok. Here it is. I've narrowed it down to my 2 fav names for both:

Boy: Christopher Bryson Boster or Christopher Aiken Boster
Girl: Something Reese Boster or Something Anslyn Boster

Lex suggests Montazooma for the boy and Chante
for little princess! (you pray about those and get back to me:)

Lex's suggestions are nothing other than...INTERESTING!! Bryson Samuel was a name I have loved for a LONG time. Other name combinations that I thought of while in high school were Jordan Alexander, Hillary Suzanne and Mallory Kathryn. Just add Christopher, Rebecca or any other name and you'll be good to go!!
