Flashback

Big hair, mullets, Queen's song "another one bites the dust", disco lights, and limbo. If you're younger than 30 you are probably thinking, "what?" Yeah, but all you 30+ you know what I'm talking about. That's right rollerskating! Those brown skates with four wheels and neon strings.
Rollerskating. Where girls did there hair big and boys always had a pick in their back pocket. If you were lucky a boy would ask you to slow skate. I was a young girl of nine when skating was big, so I was never asked to slow skate. As I matured skating became "uncool" and I never skated again.

Until..........

Today! My son and I went on a "date" to the local skating rink with a homeschool group. It was awesome! Some things never change. There will always be the disco lights, limbo, the brown skates with four wheels and neon strings, the guy in a mullet, the girl with not so big hair and the slow skate!

Um, the real question is: how did you do? Skate with the 8 year olds? Fall on your butt? Have the time of your life? I kinda want to go skating right now! is that weird?

Love ya. . .oh man, I forgot to add you again and Greg's calling for me to come to bed! In the morning!

I loved roller skating, but I was never cool, and I didn't ever get asked to slow skate by any of the "cool" guys. My husband has been playing some of those old great songs for my kids. Remember A-ha's "Take on me" oooh the best!

You are such a great mom! And a "cool" one to boot! And I think I might add brave here too because I'm sure I would be worried about breaking something if I tried rollerskating again. It's been a L-O-N-G time since I've done that!!

Brandi,
We had a blast and I rocked the roller rink LOL.
Seriously, it was fun, I fell on my tush, remembered how to go backwards, ate nachos and passed all the 8 year olds.

NO WAY!!!! We totally went skating today too!!!!

DO-do-Do-do (that is the twilight zone music)

It was our homeschool group that went too. It was great! There is nothing like being out there doing the hokey-pokey! I even had the "referee" tell me I was good at it! (the next few times around of shakin' it all about...I tried to tame it down!)

I would have loved to see that! Did Jace take the lightsaber to the rink? That'd be a way cool light show & limbo pole all in one!

you are so funny!! I totally remember those things, I never got asked to slow dance, darnit, I am going to make my husband take me skating. I did rollar blad in my pjs not to long ago, none saw when I bit the dust at the local elementary school trying to do a sweet jump I used to do. Maybe skates would be better. lOve Kim
